Become a Coach

Coaches are the heart of our program! Each season, two or more volunteer coaches inspire and guide a team through our tried-and-true curriculum. If you're ready to directly make an impact, then this role is for you.

Become a junior Coach

Junior Coaches are needed to inspire the next generation! Our Junior Coach program is for high school girls aged 16 to 18. Beyond serving as a role model to program participants, Junior Coaches work alongside Coaches, strengthening their leadership skills and gaining a sense of belonging and purpose.

Substitute Coach

The substitute coach is a volunteer position within the Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia program that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Girls on the Run curriculum to program participants. Time commitment will vary depending on the need for substitute coaches and your availability. This is a great opportunity for those unable to commit to coaching a full season or those wanting to “test out” the coaching process!

5K Volunteers

Our end of season 5K provides a tangible sense of accomplishment to participants. To celebrate and make the experience one to remember, there are many opportunities to get involved.

Team Adelaide

Team Adelaide members are a vital resource for Girls on the Run, acting as eyes and ears out in the field. Team Adelaide volunteers are assigned specific sites and will visit each site once a season during the site’s scheduled practice time. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the program up close.

One-Time Opportunities
