Due to a scheduling glitch at the hosting venue, the Girls on the Run 5k scheduled for Saturday, May 20th has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 13th. The Girls on the Run 5k scheduled for Sunday, May 21st in Ballston will carry on as planned.

The evening will feature a new program of nine selected short films, incredibly diverse in style and content. You'll learn how a refugee camp can open new horizons, explore the power of comedy after prison, and celebrate the freedom of the water with a synchronized swim team for seniors.

Regular registration for the Spring 2017 season has closed. Late registration will open on Wednesday, March 1st at 9am. Due to a technological failure on our end, we are waiving the standard $25 late fee until March 5th. Please accept our apologies if you tried to register earlier and were unable to complete the process.

Serving as a coach is one of the most rewarding ways to get involved with Girls on the Run. Our volunteer coaches lead their teams through the Girls on the Run-developed curriculum, stretching and running activities, and training for the end-of-season 5K. Coaches make a commitment of 2-3 hours per week for the 10 week season. We need an average of 500 volunteer coaches per season to deliver our program in Northern Virginia. We can’t do it without YOU.

For the Fall 2016 Season, Coaches are still needed to support teams in: Aldie, Alexandria, Arlington, Ashburn, Burke, Fairfax, Falls Church, Herndon, McLean, Reston, Vienna

The spring weather probably has you ready to sign up for your next 5K. GOTR NOVA is hosting two, family-friendly 5K fun runs -- May 14th at the Potomac Nationals Stadium and May 15th in Arlington to kick off Taste of Arlington. We hope to see you there!

 

On World Health Day - April 7th - ensure even more girls get the chance to unleash their limitless potential. The Girls on the Run councils of the Greater Washington Area are hosting a one-day giving campaign with the goal of raising $15,000 – enough to offer financial aid to 90 local girls. Give Today.

Our #GOTRHomecoming weekend is fast approaching and that means it's almost time for our end-of-season 5K's! Are you interested in helping out at one of our races? Each 5k event takes over 100 volunteers to be a success, and we'd love to count you as one of them. Register now to serve as a greeter, buddy runner, course marshal, to manage start and finish lines, water stops, and much more. We have a job for everyone who wants to help!

General registration for the Fall 2015 Girls on the Run season has CLOSED. Late Registration will open at 11am on September 23rd. Spots will be available on a first come, first served basis on teams that have not yet hit their maximum. Teams listed on the registration site are the only ones with spaces remaining. All teams will close by October 9th. A late fee of $25 will be added to all registrations.

GOTR NOVA would like to thank our local military personnel for their ongoing service by offering a new discount. As a program that promotes cooperation and inclusion, GOTR NOVA is excited to be able to support children joining new schools and experiencing family deployment. This spring, one of our teams decided to use their end of season volunteer project to support Girls on the Run. As a team, they hosted a bake sale raising $265 to ensure more girls can access our program. We are so inspired that our girls chose to support other girls.
